      GA X79 UP4 & Ozmosis

      Hi,

sorry for writing in English, but I'm trying to run Ozmosis on a Gigabyte GA X79 UP4 (rev1.0)
      currently booting with Clover.
anyways here is the original bios file from web: Links are hidden, please login in or register.
if anyone is willing to compile...
but the main issue is that few days ago I was able to boot with ozmosis1479 into my working yosemite installation, but today with every build I'm stuck with CPU not recognized
      verbose mode gave me:
      "name" not a kext
      "FailedCLUT" not a kext
      "FailedImage" not a kext
Unknown CPU family 0x6 model 0x2d stepping 0x7
ozmosis shell log recognizes the cpu (maybe is relevant)

thank you all in advance :)

      Hi crusher

I have a Z97N-WIFI but in REV 1.1 and I believe the repository is all for REV 1.0

The BIOS for my board is here:

Is it possible to make me a Ozmosis bios with DSDT? Greatly appreciated!

You can put your dsdt to:

      Source Code

      1. /Volumes/EFI/EFI/Oz/Acpi/Load

      Then do a nvram reset.

And what are the diff's between your two versions, the ozmosis bios revisions 1.0 and 1.1?

      Clover (3543)
      Hi

I have flashed Ozmosis (the rev 1.1 version) onto my Z97N-WIFI and adjusted the BIOS settings to the recommended targets (vT-d disabled and so on), made sure there was only one SSD with OS X 10.11 on port 0 (OS X 10.11 perfectly working with Clover 3543).

First boot gave black screen. Reboot also black screen. So I tried <alt><V> after POST for verbose, nothing, black screen.

Only <shift> after POST managed to boot up but as it is safe boot, got to the Desktop.
      I edited /System/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/com.apple.Boot.plist and inserted:
-xcpm -v in kernel flags. Safed the file and reboot.

That worked and got to the Desktop. Next was trying to get accelerated graphics. Nvidia Web drivers were already installed, so again editing com.apple.Boot.plist and inserted nvda_drv=1 after -xcpm -v, safe, reboot.

Nothing, again black screen, no verbose messages, nothing.

I really miss the possiblity (like I can with Clover through the GUI) to change options and boot without the change to be permanent, so when it fails I can change something else and so on till I get what I want and make it permanent in config.plist.

I know I cam use nvram to adjust things but that is really annoying to do.

I even tried to populate the EFI partition EFI/Oz with a Defaults.plist but it only gave me a black screen... again, no messages, just a black screen.

From Clover I know I _have_ to use the Nvidia Web drivers plus a SSDT.aml plus FakeSMC.kext and a Intel 217V ethernet kext. All other options I can disable (like the Fixes for DSDT etc).

and with Ozmosis it is likely too to use them but it won't initialize.

The idea of having all what is required to boot OS X in the BIOS is definitely very compelling but the, in my case, troublesome setup is not encouraging. When things don't work I have to use my Clover usb stick, reboot, hit <esc> boot through Clover, adjust things in the EFI patition and try again. Not user friendly.

I am certain that it is my human error why I don't get accelerated graphics but the trial and error method is very time consuming and unforgiving (again in my case).

Also when I <alt><cmd><P<R> to reset all nvram settings are gone which I injected through the Console.

So, don't be offended because I know it is my user error why it won't work how I want it but configuring Ozmosis is not it's strongest point.

At least I can say thank you for helping!

lol first post your specs. I dont know which GPU you have. this is bios settings:

      Source Code

      1. SATA-AHCI-Mode : Enabled
      2. XHCI-Mode : Auto
      3. XHCI-Hand Off : Enabled
      4. EHCI-Hand Off : Enabled
      5. vt-D falls vorhanden : Disabled
      6. Wake On Lan falls vorhanden : Disabled
      7. Secure Boot : Disabled
      8. CPU EIST : Disabled -in M.I.T./Advanced Frequency Settings/Advanced CPU Core Settings

lol first remove that flags in com.apple.Boot.plist later use Default.plist ( I attached) put in EFI/Oz and going to reset NVRAM (command+Alt+P+R). For verbose mode you must press command(WIN)+v.
No need flag -xcpm and FakeSMC.kext. You have FakeSMC in ROM.

Did everything as you say, got to Desktop.

      Put your Defaults.plist in Efi/Oz/
      Reboot
<alt><cmd><P><R>.... red, orange, green flash, Hermitlogo, into bios, select boot drive, save, restart.

      Nothing, black screen.

As soon as I put _any_ file in Efi/Oz in the right place and do a <alt><cmd><P><R> I get a black screen.

I narrowed my black screen problem to the use of DisplayPort on my Dell P2715Q, it just loses signal.

If I change to HDMI I get accelerated graphics, the only drawback is it is at 3840x2160 30Hz while DP goes to 60Hz.

DP is my favorite, do you know of any solution for this?

I have already done earlier when you asked me that, see post #14

      Only boot flags are

      boot-args darkwake=0 nvda_drv=1

      For disable nvidiainjection follow

      Source Code

      1. for terminal
      2. sudo nvram 1F8E0C02-58A9-4E34-AE22-2B63745FA101:DisableNvidiaInjection=%01
      3. From HermitShell:
      4. setvar -guid 1F8E0C02-58A9-4E34-AE22-2B63745FA101 DisableNvidiaInjection ="01"
      5. Using Defaults.plist:
      6. <key>Defaults:1F8E0C02-58A9-4E34-AE22-2B63745FA101</key>
      7. <dict>
      8. <key>DisableNvidiaInjection</key>
      9. <true/>

      YES!

I changed it from Terminal and after reboot and change connection from HDMI to DisplayPort it showed my Desktop.

      Thanks for your help!
